Whether you travel by train or plane or car, you are putting your body through long hours of sitting, carrying heavy luggage, standing while waiting or riding a full bus, not to mention crossing time zones and facing jet lag.
Your body needs a proper recovery system from all kinds of travel, whether you are gone for 3 days or 3 weeks.
I use this effective system to recover from jet lag the natural way. I am also very gentle and patient with my body’s demands for up to a week after getting home. This helps the body adjust to the right time zone and slowly shift into the old routines.
Nutrition matters and green smoothies can play a huge role.

Since The Healthy Smoothie Bible hit the bookstores, I’ve been asked for easy green smoothie recipes that can help a detox and cleansing especially after taking a trip so I put together a list of 7 easy hydrating cleansing green smoothie recipes that you can make every day for the first week of getting home.
Indulge Away but Recover ASAP Post Travel
If you are anything like say normal, you enjoy food where you go, you may go out to eat with friends or coworkers or taste the new cuisine of the country or region you are visiting.
Most of us tend to overindulge when traveling. I admit that’s what I did all over Europe. Have you had Germany bakery? Or French breads? It’s sinful to give it up in the name of diet! 🙂
But what matters most is what you do the first three days after you are back home.
This is the detox plan I follow when I get home from traveling any length of time, and I immediately regain my health and energy and feel productive.

Easy Cleansing Rules with Green Smoothies:
Follow these steps during your cleanse & hydrate:
1. Make one of the green detox smoothie recipes in The Healthy Smoothie Bible. These recipes are marked by “Cleanse & Detox” category. They should yield approximately 2-3 servings.

2. Drink one serving for breakfast.
3. Save the rest in an air-tight glass container and refrigerate.
4. Drink water and loose-leaf tea all morning and afternoon.
5. Drink a second serving mid-morning or closer to lunch time.
5. Drink the last serving an hour later.

8. For dinner, start with raw green salads and use avocado for a healthy fat and filling food. Over the week, add cooked vegetables, and some raw nuts and healthy oils such as extra virgin olive oil.
9. Repeat this for 3 days.
Avoid these foods during your cleanse & hydrate:
– Meats.
– Dairy.
– Junk food, processed food.
– Eating out, both fast food and restaurant.
– Sodas.
– Alcohol.
– Coffee.
– Fake meats.
