Why Only 4-ingredient Quick Smoothie Recipes?
You know how you start a new diet with all the intention in the world to do your best but then somewhere along the line, you lose enthusiasm, you worry if you can finish it and it becomes a chore to follow the program?
I’ve got news for you: The problem isn’t you!
I’ve been there so many times! I start out with lots of self-discipline and planning, but after a couple of weeks, I find that I just can’t keep up with the regimen.
The problem is often just the sheer complexity.
Too many things to keep track of. Too hard to make the recipes. Too much work to get the ingredients. Too many items to prepare.
This is one reason why I am so madly in love with green juice and green smoothie and why I can continue to integrate them into my super busy lifestyle.
Green smoothies are as simple as it gets – fresh raw fruits and vegetables and herbs (and in case of green smoothies, super foods, natural protein powders, and raw nut butters, if you desire), in amazing combinations.
But in this blog post, I want to make them even simpler for you. I spent summer of 2013 whipping up over 100 recipes for my next book, The Healthy Smoothie Bible, which hits bookstores on April 1st, 2014.
I learned a lot in the process and one lesson was: the more ingredients in the smoothie, the less likely someone else or I are to make it.
So I experimented with simpler recipes. The results? Four ingredients is the minimum for a green smoothie recipe where you get flavor, variety, and tons of nutrients. Hence these quick smoothie recipes!
I don’t know about you but I don’t like my food bland, so I had to find the sweet spot for making the easiest, fastest smoothie recipes in the shortest amount of preparation time.
I know you are busy. So am I! But I promise you can whip up these amazing 4-ingredient recipes in less than 7 minutes from the time you walk into your kitchen to the time until the time you walk out, blender all washed and dried, and your smoothie in your hand.
