How do you make delicious low-carb smoothies?
During one of my recent book signings at Barnes & Noble, one of the readers asked if I have any low-carb smoothie recipes in The Healthy Smoothie Bible. Why, yes I do! In fact, I have a recipe tag for low-fruit and low-carb recipes.
She was on a low-carb diet to lose weight, lower her cholesterol and reduce her sugar intake. She said she had a hard time finding variety of foods to eat and as she wasn’t crazy about eating bacon and cheese all day long, she started looking at alternative low-carb options.
She had stayed away from smoothies as a general rule because all smoothies she was familiar with used a ton of fruits in their recipes and not much else. Not only were these high-fruit smoothie recipes too sweet for her taste buds now, they hardly had any other nutritional benefits.
Of course you can make low-carb smoothies and fruit is not the only thing that goes into a healthy delicious smoothie!
In fact, smoothies are so versatile that you can modify them to suit just about any dietary restrictions.
You can experiment with ingredients and you may have to step outside your comfort zone and your known routines in order to accomplish this goal. Making low-carb and yet delicious and creamy smoothie recipes requires some creativity.
You can make low-carb high-protein and extremely easy and delicious smoothie recipes, and get enough fun and variety in your current diet that you will stick to your health goals easier, and that’s one of the things I LOVE about smoothies. Smoothies adapt to your diet, not the other way around.
In the last article, I talked about banana-free smoothie recipes. One of the key ingredients that I replace for banana is avocado. Bananas are high in carbohydrates but when you replace them with avocado, you are eliminating all the sugar and getting a healthy dose of fat from avocado.
Avocado is one of the many options you can use to create low-carb smoothie recipes. If you are trying to limit your carbohydrate intake but still want to enjoy smoothies, here are 8 recipes for delicious low-cab healthy smoothies that will have your mouth watering. I made a comment for the recipes borrowed directly from The Healthy Smoothie Bible.
