You are busier than a buzzing little bee, and every minute of your life is accounted for. The thought of adding yet another thing on top of all you have going on is just nuts. You are doing a million things as it is.

During a Jack Lalanne informercial I watched that year, I remember wondering why an 80+ year old man had more energy than the 30 something year old woman watching him! It made no sense … until it hit me: I wasn’t taking sufficient care of myself even as a self-proclaimed “health nut”. I jumped into the world of juicing starved for answers and I found it all. Juicing for me was a miracle drug that released its healing powers slowly and efficiently. I welcomed the clarity, joy, harmony and tons of energy as a result of juicing.
It was all going well until my journey was rudely interrupted: I lost motivation.
There was no question that I loved juicing, that I was convinced of its powerful benefits, that it felt great to do it, but I just lost motivation. Despite my great intention, I flat out resisted to juice for a while.

It took me 3 years to establish juicing as a non-negotiable habit in my crazy busy lifestyle, but when it got hold, it stayed. My “flirting” period took a lot longer than necessary before I settled for permanent commitment. Killer Tip #1: Start with the why: Why do you want to juice?
The first thing to do is to do nothing at all but to ask a question: why do you want to juice?
Your answer tells you whether you can easily build a habit or not. Ask this question to go inside and to find your true motive. Strip everything that’s not the real you.
For example, you may say that you want to juice because it can help you lose weight. Or maybe you want to juice in order to be a role model of health for your children and family. Or maybe your vanity rules here, which is totally fine, and you want to juice because you want that fresh skin glow from drinking pure vegetable-fruit-herb juices.
What’s your reason?

The basic things you need to set up your system:
1. A permanent place for your juicer on the kitchen counter.
2. An easily accessible place for all your jars, containers and accessories.
3. A permanent place for your cutting board next to the juicer if possible.
4. An organization for storing and accessing your fruits and vegetables and herbs.
5. A list of recipes and a juicing journal to document your favorites as reference in a pinch.
Killer Tip #3: Decide your exact juicing times and stick to them.
The problem is not that you lack willpower or self-discipline. No way. You are perfect the way you are and you care way more than the average Jane about your beautiful body. That’s why you are here reading this piece. Congratulate yourself just for that.
The problem is that entertaining thoughts and moods that arise when the time comes to do something. The thoughts will come whether we have all the willpower or not. Thoughts such as, “Oh I don’t feel like it?”, “I am not in the mood.”, “It takes too much effort.”
Your one and only job is to listen and acknowledge the thoughts but keep your commitment. Don’t pause, don’t entertain the thoughts. Just get on with your task.
Move through your automated system but the minute that your calendar says it’s time to juice, go do it. Just as you would when it’s time to brush your teeth, email your boss, or feed the puppy. Do not make room for second guessing.
